Itinerary – 2-Day Safari from Diani Beach to Tsavo East

Day 1: Diani Beach → Tsavo East National Park

Activities: Scenic road trip, afternoon game drive, lodge overnight

  • 05:30 AM – Pick-up from your Diani Beach hotel or resort.
    Your safari guide will meet you early for your private road transfer to Tsavo East. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Kenyan countryside, small towns, and rural farmland.

  • 10:00 AM – Arrive at Tsavo East National Park – Buchuma Gate
    After park entry, begin your first game drive in the southern circuit. This area is known for:

  • Red-dust elephants
  • Buffalos, zebras, and giraffes
  • Lions, antelope, and rich birdlife
  • 01:00 PM – Check-in & lunch at your safari lodge or camp
    Relax and enjoy lunch at your selected lodge. Options include:

  • Ashnil Aruba Lodge (mid-range)
  • Voi Safari Lodge (budget)
  • Satao Camp (luxury upgrade)
  • 03:30 PM – Afternoon game drive to Aruba Dam & Galana River
    The Aruba Dam is a popular wildlife gathering point. Watch for:

  • Hippos, crocodiles, waterbuck
  • Birds: kingfishers, herons, storks
  • 06:00 PM – Return to lodge for dinner & overnight

 Overnight at your chosen lodge inside or near the park.
 Don’t forget your camera – golden hour light makes for perfect photos.

Day 2: Tsavo East → Diani Beach

Activities: Sunrise game drive, breakfast, return trip

  • 06:15 AM – Early morning game drive
    Start your day with the best wildlife viewing time. Catch the animals before the heat rises.

     Possible sightings:

  • Lions on the hunt, hyenas, jackals
  • Elephant herds, buffalo, dik-diks
  • 08:00 AM – Breakfast at your lodge

  • 09:00 AM – Optional visit to Lugard Falls (if time allows)
    View this unique rock formation and water cascade on the Galana River – home to crocodiles and scenic photo ops.

  • 10:30 AM – Begin return journey to Diani Beach
    Rest stop along the way for snacks and souvenirs.

  • 03:00–04:00 PM – Drop-off at your hotel in Diani Beach

Yes – this is one of the best short safaris in Kenya. In just two days, you’ll enjoy multiple game drives in Tsavo East, stay overnight in a lodge or tented camp, and return to the beach refreshed.

Tsavo East is approximately 4.5 to 5 hours by road from Diani Beach. We use a private safari van or 4x4 Land Cruiser for a comfortable journey.

 

On your 2-day Tsavo safari, you can expect:
