Morning Departure from Nairobi
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. After meeting your driver/guide, you’ll embark on the 4-5 hour drive to Amboseli National Park, located near the Kenya-Tanzania border. As you approach the park, you’ll be greeted by stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain.

Arrival at Amboseli National Park
You’ll arrive at Amboseli National Park in time for lunch at your lodge or camp, such as Kibo Safari Camp, Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge, or Ol Tukai Lodge. After check-in and a relaxing meal, you’ll head out for your first game drive in the park.

Afternoon Game Drive in Amboseli
Amboseli is renowned for its large herds of elephants, often seen against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. During your game drive, you’ll also spot other wildlife such as buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and hippos in the park’s marshes. The swamps are fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro, attracting a variety of animals throughout the day.

Morning Game Drive in Amboseli

Transfer to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast and check-out, you’ll begin your journey to Lake Naivasha, a scenic 5-6 hour drive through the Great Rift Valley. Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake surrounded by acacia trees and is known for its rich birdlife and peaceful atmosphere. Upon arrival, check into your lakeside lodge or camp, such as Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort or Naivasha Simba Lodge, and enjoy lunch.

Optional Afternoon Activities at Lake Naivasha

  1. Boat Ride on Lake Naivasha: For an additional cost, you can take a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, where you’ll see hippos and a variety of waterbirds such as pelicans, herons, and the majestic African fish eagle.

  2. Crescent Island Walking Safari: Another option is a walking safari on Crescent Island, a wildlife sanctuary located on Lake Naivasha. Here, you can walk among giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and other herbivores in a serene setting.

Morning Departure for Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast and check-out, you’ll drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, located about 2 hours from Lake Naivasha. This park is famous for its stunning populations of flamingos and is home to the black and white rhinos, making it one of Kenya’s premier rhino sanctuaries.

Arrival at Lake Nakuru National Park
You’ll arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch at your lodge, such as Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge. After check-in and a meal, you’ll set out for an afternoon game drive.

Afternoon Game Drive in Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 450 bird species recorded, including flamingos, pelicans, cormorants, and herons. The park is also home to buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, warthogs, and lions. During your game drive, you may visit Baboon Cliff, which offers panoramic views of the lake and surrounding landscape.

Morning Departure for Masai Mara
After breakfast and check-out, you’ll depart for the world-renowned Masai Mara Game Reserve, a 5-6 hour drive from Lake Nakuru. The Masai Mara is one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations, known for its rich wildlife and vast open plains.

Arrival in Masai Mara Game Reserve
You’ll arrive at your lodge or camp, such as Mara Serena Safari Lodge, Ashnil Mara Camp, or Mara Sopa Lodge, in time for lunch. After checking in, relax for a short while before heading out for your first afternoon game drive in the Mara.

Afternoon Game Drive in Masai Mara
In the late afternoon, set out for a game drive in the Masai Mara. The reserve is home to the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos) and large populations of wildebeests, zebras, and giraffes. Your guide will take you through the rolling savannahs, where you’re likely to spot predators like lions and cheetahs. If you’re visiting between July and October, you may witness the Great Migration, when millions of animals cross the Mara River.

Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and a peaceful night.

Morning and Afternoon Game Drives

Picnic Lunch in the Bush
To make the most of your time in the reserve, you’ll enjoy a packed picnic lunch in a scenic spot within the park. This allows you to remain out in the wild all day, maximizing your chances of seeing a wide variety of wildlife.
