Day 1: Depart Nairobi to Tsavo East, Full Day of Game Drives, Overnight at Lodge
Nairobi – Tsavo East National Park: (320 km: 5-hour drive) Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner At 06:00 hrs, your driver/guide will meet you at your hotel, residence, or Nairobi airport.
We’ll embark on an exciting journey in our 4 x 4 Jeep along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, famously known as the route of early explorers. Our first day in Tsavo East will be filled with thrilling game drives, as we traverse vast grasslands and savannahs in search of both large and small wildlife, from majestic predators to gentle grazers.
You’ll encounter not only the big cats but also charming species like gerenuk, impala, and the iconic Masai giraffe. The park’s sparse vegetation enhances wildlife visibility, and you’ll be captivated by the vibrant array of bird species flitting about, including the crowned crane, lovebird, and sacred ibis. One of the park’s unique highlights is its red-dust elephants. The reddish iron oxide soil here is a favorite for these magnificent creatures, who love to roll in it, giving them a striking red hue that’s hard to miss.
We’ll conclude our first day of safari at Tsavo East, where you can choose to stay in either a lodge or a tented camp.
Day 2: Morning Safari in Tsavo East, Afternoon Arrival and Game Drive in Amboseli
Tsavo East to Amboseli: (300km – Approximately 6 hours) Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner We love to start our safari days early to soak in the breathtaking beauty of dawn and witness nature awaken as wildlife stirs from its slumber.
Following our early morning game drive, we’ll savor a delightful safari breakfast at our lodge. Then, we’ll embark on one final game drive in Tsavo East before heading towards the stunning vistas of Kilimanjaro and Amboseli National Park.
As we journey to the park, the majestic silhouette of Kilimanjaro looms ahead, standing sentinel over Amboseli. Under its watchful presence, you’ll encounter a magnificent array of free-roaming elephants that grace the reserve.
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the park’s smaller wonders, including foxes, monkeys, and baboons. The marshes and lakes are alive with a vibrant variety of birdlife, featuring pelicans, kingfishers, egrets, and herons. As evening falls, the clouds that sometimes shroud Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak will often clear, unveiling one of Africa’s most breathtaking views.
Our second night of safari will be spent in Amboseli, where you can choose your preferred accommodation.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive in Amboseli, Scenic Return to Nairobi
Amboseli – Nairobi (250 km: Approx. 4 hrs) Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch Get ready to jump into our 4 x 4 Jeep for an exhilarating early morning game drive, where we’ll have the chance to see Amboseli’s wildlife come to life at dawn.
